There is a shield-shaped reserve at the end of each handle, surrounded by four rows of punched dots. There is some wear to the left top of each bowl, affecting the thickness of the edge, but not the shape of the bowl. Two salts, two peppers and a drum mustard, the total weight of silver is 160 grams, without liners, and the bodies of the salts and mustard are 5 1/2 cm across at the base, (8cm over the handles), while the peppers are 7 1/2 cm high. The classical simplicity of the shape is accentuated by the very elegant handles, and relieved by plain raised bands. Weighing c350 grams, and 14 1/2 cm across, the repousse-decorated, four-lobed, bombe-shaped box is a much older Dutch piece than the London hallmark suggests. The hinged lid is decorated with three putti gathering flowers in a richly floral-decorated ground and each of the four shaped panels on the sides of the box has two putti in similar grounds. The lid has a shell-shaped thumb-piece, and the interior retains much of its original gilding. 22 grams, without its liner, and 8 cm across, this beautiful salt has a very heavy blue-glass liner, star-cut on the outside bottom, and probably original. The pierced decoration comprises twin bands of horizontal piercing on either side of vertical rectangular piercing, separated by rows of punched dots. The base is a plain stepped base, while the top has an applied gadrooned border. 45 grams, without its liner, and 9 cms across, this elegant boat-shaped salt is raised on four out-ward curving shaped feet. The body is decorated with a band of foliate engraving, between double rows of dots, following the top. There is an oval panel on the front, surrounded by foliate engraving: rows of punched dots round the base, and outlining the feet: and an applied reeded band round the top. There is a well-fitting blue glass liner, and the small tear under the base does not affect the usefullness of the salt. 163 grams and 10 cm wide this elegant caddy has a pie-crust edge to the base and to the hinged lid. The body is decorated with spiral fluting, sweeping up to a border of punched decoration.
