London: D. C. Thompson 23rd Feb. 1963. 34 by 26 cms. 23 pp. illustrated. The first issue of this ground breaking girls' comic, without the lovely golden chain bracelet. It ran from 1963 to 1976. In very good condition. £45.00


8367. : Valiant Issue No. 1.

London: Fleetway Publications 1962. 30.5 by 23 cms. 31 pp. illustrated. Neither of the two free gifts is present, otherwise a complete copy of the very first issue in very good condition. Valiant was a major British comic by IPC mags, which ran for 713 issues from 1963 to 1976. Includes Capt. Hurricane. £50.00

London: John Leng and Co. 1938. Two issues of this weekly comic for children, No's 828 and 835. 25.6.1938 and 13.8.1938. 40 pp. each. Bright colourful covers, black and white and coloured illustrations inside. Staples rusted but otherwise, despite some wear, in good condition. This was not a Blyton production. £5.00

New Series. 34 issues of this weekly comic for children, including no's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17,18,19, 20, 21,22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30,31,32, 33, 34. 18.5 by 12.5 cms. 34pp. bright colourful covers, otherwise black and white illustrations inside. A newsagent has written an address on the top of many covers, staples rusted but otherwise almost as new. It is hard to believe that any child read these and left them in such good condition.. £35.00

London: Norman Shaw, 1981. 94pp, 20.5 x 16.5 cm. A unique catalogue of lists of titles and other data from D.J.Adey's original handwritten Record Book. The Gem ran from 1907-1935. A scarce item. £20.00


3226. anon.: The Rainbow. No.323 Vol.7.

London. Amalgamated Press. April 17th 1920. 12 pp. illustrated in black and white and colour. The coloured cover features the Bruin Boys, also the Dolliwogs Dollshouse, Sing Hi and Sing Lo and the Little Nigs of Tiny Town. No political correctness here obviously! Used and a bit worn but a nice survival. The Rainbow was a favourite from 1914 to 1953 £12.00

Frank Baum, sories by Baum, Shantower, Denslow, Eloise Jarvis McGraw, Pickens, Ruth Plumly Thompson, and others, comics by Walt Spouse, Anna Maria Cool. In very good condition, almost as new. For all lovers of Oz. £15.00

New Series. 22 issues of this weekly comic for children, including no's 129, 181, 229, 319, 430, 447, 456, 458, 459, 460, 463, 471, 473, 478, 479, 490, 495, 496, 520, 533, 573, 576. 18 by 13.5 cms, about 32 pp. each issue.The wartime issues are on the usual poor quality paper but this all improves postwar. Bright colourful covers, otherwise black and white illustrations inside. A newsagent has written an address in pencil on the top of many covers, staples rusted but otherwise, despite some wear, in good condition. Scarce survivors. Blyton left this magazine in Feb. 1953. £65.00
