The illustrator is Louis Agassiz Fuertes, and the plates are in colour and are most attractive. Chapters include Avifauna, Life Zones, Migration, Spring Arrivals, Published Lists, Classification, Genera and Species, Ecology, Economic Value, Laws, Refuges, and Preserves. The dark green boards show a little shelfwear but the volumes are tight and sound. Gilt spine titles are faded. These two volumes are extremely heavy, together weighing 10 kilos, which has serious postage charge implications.
